Being there with my friends and family was priceless. I don’t even know the last time i was that excited. The room was filled to capacity and i could not recognize most of the people present.
“Cheers Lina and congratulations.”said a familiar voice .I turned behind and our eyes locked . It was Ruth. The Ruth that had given me a really hard time at work for the last two years. So no we weren’t friends .
I totally understood what she was doing though . I had been promoted which meant i was her boss in a way. How the tables had turned .

Do you own a blazer? If you do how do you style it ,what colours and prints do you prefer? If you don’t what’s your opinion on blazers ?
Personally i love blazers. Yes they can be costly at times but they are worth every penny . As for colours you can rarely go wrong with white ,black ,red and checked(I’m yet to own one of this) .Pair that with plain pants ,dresses,shorts or skirts . Whichever you prefer☺( don’t let me limit you) depending with the vibe you want to give casual or official.
So i paired my blazer with baggy mom jeans (They are biiiiig😂 . You’ll see just how big they are on one of the blogs ), the heels socks combination and a white sling bag.
PS ; Of all trends I’m definitely keeping the socks and heels combo🙂.
“Are you ready yet?” I ask Lina. She was the type of person who stressed over issues like what she wore,where,when.
If we were going somewhere I had to tell her like three days earlier otherwise she’d decline saying she had nothing to wear.
Today wasn’t any different. I had come to pick her two hours ago and she wasn’t ready yet .” C’mon Lina hurry up.” She had changed her outfit four times now. FOUR TIMES. It was after i told her that i was leaving that she came running down the stairs wearing the first outfit .

See the difference between the first and second pictures?
In the first picture,i barely thought about the outfit. Looks like i just woke up ,picked a random jumpsuit ,heels and left.
In the second picture well …It’s quite the opposite of the first .
Ever worn an outfit and thought that you really could do better with it ? That’s what happened to me😂. I felt like i could do more with this particular jumpsuit . So i decided to add colour . As you can see black and red isn’t that bad of a combination. I personally love the outcome.
It’s not hard transforming a boring outfit into a bomb one . SIMPLYACCESORIZE. Put your jewelery game on hunny . Here is a link on how to coordinate jewelery with an outfit.
PS.Accesorizing doesn’t really mean jewelery alone.
I didn’t really use necklaces ,bangles,earings to make the outfit pop but you’re free to if you want . To me the head wrap,belt and the red bag play the same role.

Culture. Hey I’m not talking about bacteria or tissue cells in an artificial medium containing nutrients, I’m simply talking about the way of life, the customs and beliefs of a particular people at a particular time. How our ancestors lived with each other. The laws they followed.
Ever thought how different your life would have been if you were born a century ago?
I have . I’m sure you’ve read or heard about how life was like back then. Responsibilities were issued according to age and gender.
Let us not forget about the ceremonies that surrounded important transitional periods like birth, puberty, marriage and death . The birth of a male was of more value than that of a female hence had more ululations and more celebrations afterwards.
Children were a source of prestige. A man with more sons than daughters was respected more. Children were named according to the seasons, the weather, time of day (My mother’s name is Nduku she was born at night) or after relatives. This was the system most communities followed.
As a boy you were taught how to be a man and not just any man an ideal man. A man that could protect the community if the cattle raiders passed by to say hi. The fishing, hunting, herding, protecting ones family, it was all part of the growing up module. The men got the jobs while the wives stayed at home bearing and taking care of the children.
As a girl, you were a source of wealth and ended up being married off to the village chief as the 20th wife as soon as puberty kicked in. From a young age you were taught your place in the society. Roles were clearly defined.
Initiation rites included removal of the front teeth, fighting and killing a lion (among the maasai) and the most common circumcision. These rites stripped off ones previous roles in readiness for new adult ones. The success or failure in these determined if someone was fit to marry or get married among other roles.
Marriage was sacred and a mandatory once one was of a certain age. It was an important rite. One of the factors considered before you became a leader was marriage. Polygamy and wife inheritance was completely allowed. Many wives resulted to many children and many children was a sign of wealth.
There was no use of family planning methods unlike in the present.
Having children was a blessing (it still is ) and being unable to have any was a curse that needed the woman cleanse herself and appease the gods and ancestors.
A woman “carrying a child” was to be treated in a very special way. She was advised on what to do and what not to do by older women. Her diet was also special. In some communities she was to go live with her mother or grand mother until she gave birth so that they take care of her. Rituals were performed to ensure she had a safe delivery.
During delivery, the father of the unborn baby stayed outside with other male relatives as they waited to be told the gender of the child.
The last rite of passage was death. It was as gloomy as always and included people shave their heads among others. Different communities mourned differently.
Means of communication. Would you imagine yourself blowing a horn or sending smoke signals or sending messengers? This ways worked for them though.
Ask me to name a particular plant and I’ll probably have no idea if it’s not the common cactus, sunflower or maize plant. I kinda envy their art to obtain medicine from plants directly.
Unlike us their gifts includes rainmaking, midwifery and herbalists.
The community was held together by the taboos,common beliefs,religion,festivities,common interests etc. The death of one of them was mourned by the whole community just like the birth of one was celebrated by all.
I don’t want you feeling like you’re in a neverending history class at 1400hrs with your belly full and its 50°c outside. You know that feeling?😂I dont want you feeling that .
I could go ahead and talk about how different communities had different traditions, wife inheritance,the rituals,early marriages,bannishment,worshipping under trees,polygamy ,pouring libation etc but i won’t😊.
This was the second time i hadn’t done Mr Luke’s homework this week. No i wasn’t being disrespectful. Actually i didn’t have reason enough as to why i wasn’t doing it.
I had set the alarm at 1800hrs instead of 0600hrs .Pretty stupid i know. I couldn’t tell him that .I had made up all logical excuses there was no more left .
It’s just homework ,its not supposed to be a big deal. Unfortunately in my case it wasn’t “just homework”. Mr Luke had barged in our class a few minutes earlier clearly stating that whatever we got in the homework would be added in our finals ……

What’s the first thing you notice about this picture?
To me the pants definitely stand out then the belt. As i said on “basic outfit 1″ (If you haven’t read about it check the post immediately before this one)At school how you dress is very important.
If you want other students to address you in a certain way then you should definitely dress the part. No I’m not saying that you dress like a prom queen on a daily basis unless you want to😂. I’m also not saying that you go rob a bank so that you dress expensively.
Identify your style depending on your body shape and your unique taste then stick to that .
(As the topic suggests ,I’ll be writing some sort of series on what to wear when school reopens😊. This is episode 1😂. Stay tuned💖)
Sitted at the school cafeteria i couldn’t help but notice her. She sat at the far corner with her right palm on her cheek,her food untouched .She looked sad and lonely.
She had had quite a rough day or so i heard .She trusted the wrong person. Which brings the question, who is the right person to trust?.Anyway, some video had leaked and everybody in school couldn’t stop talking about it . She sat there looking all miserable.
“Hey Lina ,come sit with me.”I called. It wasn’t her fault anyway . As we talked she burst out crying .Who would have done this to her? Neither her popularity nor her family’s wealth could get her out of this.
Everybody knew that there was a thing between Lina and Mr Charles but no one had proof . She was actually considering suicide but i managed talking her out of it. In school things like these are bound to happen.
Everyone plays the role of judge until it happens to them. What would you do if you were the victim ?…………

At school how you dress is very important. The small details matter. The shoe type,the sock length, the belt buckle,pretty much everything. School cliques are easily recognized by what the members are wearing. Be it the nerds or the popular kids.
Lets say for example as much as the goths are known for their preference in loud hard rock ,low self esteem and love of anime ,everyone can easily identify them with their dark dressing. Black lipstick black everything.
Take your time in choosing an outfit for a school day. I know school sucks most times but you’d be surprised what a good outfit does .If you’re not really a morning person like me ,choose the outfit the day before so that even if you run late you still look good🤷🏽.
Yeeey it was finally Friday. As i walked into Lina’s office I realised i hadn’t filed the documents she had told me to. I was also 30 minutes late and i forgot to reschedule her appointment with the director.
I was in deep shit. Would this be the right time for me to write a resignation letter?Or should i wait for her to fire me?.Everybody knew how strict Lina was. I was her 5th secretary in four months.
She was stern about everything in her company. She wanted everything in order ,done precisely how and when she wanted it done .Who could blame her ? If i was in her shoes I’d probably do the same or more.
Born from a humble background , Lina paved her way to the top. At a young age of 25 her company was well known, not to mention the countless times she had been nominated for various awards…

A Tshirt paired with black jeans is so basic right?.Add a headwrap and voilaa ,you’re looking all fashionable and stylish. I’d say it plays the role of an accessory.
A headwrap doesn’t have to be for bad hair days only. It also must not have the same color or print as any of the clothes you’re wearing. Colour blocking is a thing you know.
Take in consideration that there are different headwrap styles .Find the ones suitable for your face shape and wear them boldly .Still clueless on that?There are like a gazillion YouTube videos that can help you with that.
Another headwrap advantage is that it goes well with light make up so on those days you’re not really feeling like doing your 1 hr make up routine try an headwrap.
Lastly you don’t have to carry a complete outfit change if you’re going out on an ankara themed occasion after work. Simply carry a headwrap.

What’s the first thing that comes in mind when you’re told ,”she’s/he’s a model”?
Lemme guess she/he doesn’t feed properly,has so many clothes , gets to travel around the world ,maybe survives on one meal a day. Has a boss that tells her/him what to wear,when,how to eat ,when to breath etc. Probably even looks malnourished.( I’m guessing it’s because plus size models are not as popular.)
Well it’s not all bad. You wouldn’t understand because its not your line of work and again don’t judge .
I don’t know how they pull it off,the walk ,the sway,the twirl,the piroutte ,every movement in synchrony…a complete masterpiece if you ask me . Pure art. That aside😂

Well confidence is key and believe you me every one around you feels the vibe. Don’t be afraid to go bold if you want ,if you’re uncertain go for dull colours. Like i did .

Everything was happening fast and i hated every bit of it. It was unbearable.Everybody looked at me weirdly. I had gotten used to being the popular kid in school not the ” weird new kid”
We had to relocate after my parents got transferred. I missed my old school,my friends,the beach ,my favorite spot at the coffee shop,pretty much everything at my old town. Life here was miserable and lonely.
I was so prepared to stay with my grandma who lived a few blocks from our house but my parents wouldn’t hear non of that . It was the thought of a bigger house ,some allowance and the promise of a new car that convinced me to change my mind.
Eventually things will feel better . Atleast i hope so…….

Contrary to popular belief that bright coloured clothes should be paired with dark coloured clothes only ,bright coloured clothes can be paired too. Did you read that right?😂
Would you wear an all white outfit? I know i wouldn’t unless i really have to. Say maybe it’s an occasion and that’s the dress code .
I have seen people wear “all white” even on a rainy day. I know “si ya kila mtu”. Imagine rocking that clean white outfit and a car passes splashing muddy water all over you on your way to work. Sobs😢.I dont even want to think about it .An all white outfit is for the few that choose it.😂
Pink +white. Ever thought of that combination? FYI pink is not all feminine ,atleast not anymore so don’t be scared dude . I personally think its an awesome combination unless you’re not one that likes doing laundry and wherever you’re going is not “white friendly”. Otherwise try it then tell me how it goes😊.

Some opt to go full blown while others opt to wear their team’s jersey and that’s it. I think it depends with how much you love your team. I mean you wouldn’t go to such lengths for a team or game you view as mere mediocrity right?
Football fans really intrigue me . Be it international or local .There is something about them …………..
Have you ever seen Gor mahia’s fans?If not you probably should. Nothing is spared . Faces and bellies are painted. Colored wigs are worn. Vuvuzelas are blown .It’s amazing. It’s like they are one very big and happy family .I have a friend that hangs his Gor mahia’s jersey in the living room .To him the jersey is not just a piece of cloth,it’s a symbol of determination,patience and commitment.
Next time you’re going to watch a game be it at your friend’s or at a stadium dress for it. It really puts you in the mood .Even if you’re at work and need to pass by later in the day ,be sure to carry a jersey or something so that you change.

To some ,clothes are just clothes.No big deal ,as long as you don’t go naked we good.To others ,clothes are the biggest deal 😂don’t ask where i lie.
These “others” get to channel their artistic minds into how they dress..Clothes represent a large chunk of their personality ,their mood,their way of life and you don’t get to judge them for that.
