The background behind women’s day

It first became an official holiday in Russia .While men were off at war women experienced food shortages ,discrimination,rape etc.So on the 8th of March 1913 ,they decided enough was enough and went to the streets .The goal was to achieve gender parity. They demanded equal rights in all sectors of the economy .Their needs were later met and this special day was set aside.Today the day is celebrated in honor of the achievements done by various women around the globe,it unites them in fighting gender discrimination and helps in gaining full global development.
